Minivid: Editing

As i have used Final Cut Pro previously, i didn't have too much trouble with basic editing. As i was editing a music video I had more freedom to use effect and different transitions. The first one i tried was using the mirror effect.  I used this on a shot of Jake lip-syncing and I thought it looked quite effective. I also used another effect on the shot to give it a more stylised look.
I knew that i wanted to layer shots of Jake lip-syncing over the main narrative. As i had used layering in my AS coursework production, i didn't find this too difficult.
I also used reverse in my edit to add something to the music video and break up long takes, so I used the retime option and set it to reverse. I didn't find this very difficult, although it was hard to get it to correspond with the song.
I used a number of effects from the light section of the "Effects" tab.  i think the most effective one was 'Intro Flashes' because it looked very effective and fit in with the timing of the song.
I used the Transitions tab and the transition 'Lens Flare' at the end of the video so there wasn't just a blunt 'black screen' ending. I thought it looked quite effective and fit in well with the timing of the song.
