ACT: Avicii
VIDEO:
The genre of this music video is house. In the video it shows the woman on an island going out and clubbing, which usually has a strong link with house music.
The video follows a woman who works in an office. She clearly hates her job and her work colleagues. Next, she is seen waking up in a different room, and when she opens the doors in her room, it reveals a balcony with a view of a beautiful beach. She finds a "To-Do List" in the room, with the only 'job' being to "not give a f**k". Then there are several shots of her enjoying herself, walking down a beach, and dancing in a club with a man and going on a yacht. She then wakes up in her own apartment, and all is revealed to be a dream. She sees a therapist, who does nothing but prescribes her "more pills". Back in her office, she sits at her desk listening to her colleagues' boring conversations. Finally, she loses it and begins to wreck the office. Bursting out the office door, the final scene shows her on her phone, booking a one-way ticket to Barbados. As she runs across the road to her car, she is hit by a delivery van. It is unknown if she died or survived.
The main location of the video is the office. The colours are all muted and grey, and compared to the island, the office setting is very boring. The island is very vibrant and bright, and it is always sunny in comparison to the office setting where it is gloomy and rainy.
NOTABLE SHOTS/FRAMING:

The woman waking up to a beach |
PERFORMANCE STYLE:
There is no performance footage of instruments and there is no lip-syncing throughout the whole video. This is usually typical of house music.
At the beginning of the video, as the woman gets more and more fed up with her life, the shots get more and more fast paced as there is a build up to the chorus.
